LES Simulation of Garuda Sea Wall Project

Great Garuda Sea Wall
‘Great Garuda Sea Wall’ project is an eagle-shaped offshore structure with 17 artificial islands. This project has been designed for the coastal protection and land reclamation of Jakarta due to catastrophic flooding in the city. Apart from its sea wall function, it is a new waterfront city which will be built on over 1000 hectares of reclaimed land. We thus used numerical simulation to investigate the impact of the sea wall, the artificial islands, and the intensity of wind gusts in the chosen built-up area at the pedestrian level. This complex computation is accomplished by implementing a large-eddy simulation (LES) model.
